This has come up before on the mailling list, and you may be
experiencing the bug where IE will get it's connections to Squid
"jammed" in a wait_close state and not be able to transfer
anything after all 4 sockets it's allocated are jammed this way.
NExt time you see this happening, open a cmd prompt on the Win32
box w/o closing the browser. Type netstat, and see if you see
4 connections to squid in the "Wait_Close" state or something
similar to that. IF so, you have this problem.
There are 2 workarounds - one, go into the browser settings and
tools->internet options->advanced and find "use HTTP 1.1" and
"Use http 1.1 through proxy" and try toggling them to whatever
they aren't set as. Then try browsing again, and see if the same
connection problems happen.
Otherwise, try applying all the latest patches to IE, which
also seems to solve the issue.
Also, check the mailling list archives, this issue has been
one of those recurring issues that comes up every few weeks
and more detailed replies exist.
