There was a report on Slashdot, IIRC, that claimed up to a 31% increase
using Linux 2.4.19 with HTing. 2.5.3x kernels saw a 51% increase. This
was third party testing, not Intel.
We're using some dual processor 2.4 Xeons... with HT... and they do come
up with four penguins... and they are _very_ fast. However, I have not
performed any formal benchmarking... and they aren't running Squid.
However, we are going to get two more just for Squid in a few months.
I won't speculate on the merits of SMP with Squid, as I have no
benchmarks to compare.
