Or that your authenticator process is too slow.
maybe you could benefit from another CPU?
Oh, I forgot, Squid doesn't scale well on multiprocessor hardware.
Got any resource intensive cron jobs that run at 2AM? If you're
running FreeBSD, don't forget to remove the cache directory from
the locate.updatedb config.
