Re: WGET not authorizing?

The question is:

when using the following sequence:

export http_proxy=ia-br:8080
wget -r <some url>

I'm able to bypass my authentication rules in squid (2.3S2), e.g. I'm not required
to authenticate myself.
When using the same sequence for my (old) NS 3.5 proxy server I'm required to
authenticate myself.

Squid is running on AIX 4.3.2, NS Proxy is running on AIX 4.2.1 (for about another
week, then will be replaced by squid).
Then command sequence is issued from a RH6.0 machine. But I'm also (or at least
some of my co-workers are) to do the same trick by using IE5.

Richard.
