I guess Doubleclick has started putting out invalid URLs, on top of
their other sins. ;-)

It's the space in the URL. (Could this get added to the list of
possible problems in the error page?)

See the uri_whitespace settings in squid.conf. You can make Squid
ignore the fact that spaces in the URL are invalid.
