Squid-2.3.ST1 dies at first request

I've installed Squid2.3ST1 on a P120 with 64mb RAM with OpenBSD 2.6. It
dies at the first request (I've included a copy of cache.log). I've
successfully run Squid2.2ST5 on this same machine. Before installing
Squid2.3ST1 I stopped squid and renamed the /usr/local/squid directory to
/usr/local/squid-2.2ST5. I deleted the entire cache directory (it's on a
separate partition). I installed,. compiled 2.3ST1 and did a squid -z to
create the new cache directory structure. Everything looks good until I
have a client access the proxy. I've installed both with and without the
patches and the result is the same. The client browser (netscape) only
returns that the document contains no data.

Any help or hints are appreciated.
