Have patience?

It will take some time before Squid considers the parent dead. It first
tries to make 10 connections to it, and with 60 seconds timeout on each
it will take time.

I have a small patch available on my Squid page
<http://hem.passagen.se/hno/squid/> if you'd like to be able to tune
this timeout.
