its so trivial I wonder why you want someone else to test it. its just
that simple that solaris awk does not support ?: operator.

well, looking into how to make mempools cluster together more allocs
of same sizes.
I found /proc/*/pagedata for myself. playing with it and extracted how
memory is touched within squid. I can track VM page activity with it,
(referenced, modified, not touched). I wonder how could I make it
graphical and realtime. Would be fun to look at ;) I guess I should
try to make it tingle for Christmas ;)
