The first thing I would try would be doing an snmpwalk with all of the
relevent info
for redhat linux I use
snmpwalk -m /etc/squid/mib.txt -p 3401 127.0.0.1 Community cacheHttpHits.0
if you can't do that then the snmpd, squid.conf are denying you access to
get the information your trying to get.

You may even just need the .0 on the end of the Object ID. That's sunk
me several times...
