Ok, thx, Guido (and I meant it, not casting blame ... the effort you put in is appreciated).

We're going to layer stunnel under both Squid instances ... I'll report back on what happens.

You have pointed the problem:
The SSL binaries that you are using are generated automatically, without testing SSL functionality.
But really I don't know if they works, because nobody has reported any kind of information to us in the last 2 years .....

Same thing happened with the 3.0.20 experimental build, so we assumed that no reporting means non interest at all ...

I don't know how to help you, because I don't have any kind of knowledge about OpenSSL on Windows.
