Not a very useful response, I know, but please be aware that the current
recommended version is:
Current Stable Squid 2.7.STABLE7 or 3.0.STABLE24
(copied from squid dev Amos Jeffries' sig.)
I've read several times in this list of problems solved by upgrading squid.
