Search results show a few HTTP demos using it instead of 404 (I assume
typos), and a bunch of people reporting "HTTP/1.x 440" coming out of
Exchange servers when the login credentials passed in have expired inside
Exchange.

One now dead blog posts says "When a HTTP or WebDAV request is issued
agains an Exchange 2003 or 2007 public folder or mailbox folder, the server
returns a HTTP/1.1 440 Login Timeout error if Form Based authentication is
enabled." but the info on what the solution was is gone.
