[squid-users] Interpreting a sarg report

This is related to squid terminology (possibly) and as the sarg list is
empty this is about my only hope so please bear with me.

When reporting on top sites sarg is reporting CONNECT and BYTES from the
access log, but I'm unsure as to what CONNECT means (I'm assuming its
establishing connections) and for BYTES whether this is referring to the
amount squid downloaded, or the amount of information passed to the
clients, in other words can it be taken as an indication of traffic
coming down my Internet pipe?

Thanks for any guidance you guys can offer.
