 From 2.6, squid can easily handle multi-mode configurations and do both
jobs.
All you need to do is add more http_port and cache_peer lines to enable
the reverse-proxy part in squid. That should let you drop Pound entirely
and free u those CPU cycles spent running it.

 From my own experience here I would only add a recommendation of adding
the reverse-proxy bits of squid above the standard proxy restrictions.
