Ok. I think I answered my own question. Here is the portion of my
squid.conf that
invovles persistent connections:
# TAG: client_persistent_connections
# TAG: server_persistent_connections
# Persistent connection support for clients and servers. By
# default, Squid uses persistent connections (when allowed)
# with its clients and servers. You can use these options to
# disable persistent connections with clients and/or servers.
#
#Default:
# client_persistent_connections on
# server_persistent_connections on
I assume that since it is commented out that squid defaults to 'on'
Taking a look at the access.log, it appears that many requests are
passed from IE7 without credentials. IE there is no username in the
log entry. These are marked TCP_DENIED.
If it would help, I can post a few entries from the access.log.
