There has been a number of different research projects using log files.
But what tools to use depends a lot on what kind of information it is
you want to derive from the logs.

I think you may have to write your own tools. Most generic log
processing tools only gets summary statistics of different kinds and
perhaps no the kind of information you are looking for.
