You might want to check with Cisco's web site to see whether there are any
known issues with the specific NIC that you are using. Intel Pro Series
NICs seem to be the most reliable in auto-detecting speed and duplex.
That being said, there does appear to be some issues with Gigabit Ethernet
ports. Unix and Linux -based systems seem to have the fewest problems
detecting the links speed and duplex. Windows-based systems seem to have
the most difficulty. It appears that the Microsoft drivers attempt to use
software instead of letting the hardware perform the detection function.
