Squid does this on HTTP requests.
To do stream splitting of native streaming protocols require
a) Detail knowledge of the protocol in question
b) A proxy implementing the specific streaming protocol.
Squid is a HTTP proxy, and aims for neither of the above.
In addition most vendors do not seem to want Open-Souce developers to gain
detailed knowledge of their streaming protocols.
