That's a client side solution and 'theoretically' unrelated
to the original poster's question, because squid can also
server other apps for http proxying besides browsers.
The server side solutions give for instance the possibility of
building virtual servers , supported by 2 or more 'physical' nodes,
making any besides one of them always redundant.
