[squid-users] squid start problem - pid

hello everyone,

I am trying to set up a squid server.

I have configured certain parameters in the squid.conf file.

But whenevrer i set a path for the pid file,

i get an error whenever i try to restart squid after setting the path in
the squid.conf file.

 starting squid ....................................[failed]

but squid runs as i verified it with /etc/init.d/squid status.

and the command to stop squid works.

could someone tell me where exactly the problem lies.
