RE: [squid-users] ERROR thrown by squid while browsing

Thank you for your replies.

I forgot to mention that squid is running on Linux kernel 2.4.18 (Mandrake
MNF) on a IBM
Intel Xeon 2.4 GHz server with 512 MB of RAM.

the site given in the error is only an example. It occurs on any site.
Hotmail, our local job bank, google, anything. I have never had it happen
with Lynx from the server. (But then again I rarely use that).

Also: I have two PCs on my desk. When the error below occurred yesterday, I
tried to connect about 5 times, then I just went to the other computer to
connect to winehq.org. Therefore, if one computer seems to have trouble with
a site, another will be able to connect fine. Also, normally after 2-3
tries, the computer having the error will be fine.

As for the increasing timeout values, I will definitely do that. However,
when this error occurs, there is no delay i.e. when I click on a link, (For
instance, to sign out of Hotmail), the error page pops up instantaneously.
When you click "Back", then try again, if there IS a delay, it means it will
actually go through.

Thanks for all of your help, I really appreciate it.

Some hints : - which os/platform/version are you using ? -> Check OS
dependent
'weirdness' on Squid behavior in the FAQ.

               - when you have this situation from your SQUID box try :

                  % wget http://www.winehq.org/site/forums

   OR

                  % lynx --head http://www.winehq.org/

just to kind of verify whether you are suffering from basic networking
issues when SQUID tries to contact this site.
