Local groups are just that.. can not be used outside the domain
controllers.

You need to upgrade to 2.5.STABLE3 and use winbind. The winbind group
helper in 2.5.STABLE3 and later supports domain qualified groups
(domain1/group domain2/group) allowing it to refer to groups outside
of the primary domain.
