When you run:
wbinfo -a username%password
Do you get both of these lines:
plaintext password authentication succeeded
challenge/response password authentication succeeded
If so, then NTLM auth should work. Also, make sure the
workstation you try this from is logged into the domain.
If you have a Windows 2000 domain controllser, make sure
it's set to use both LM & NTLM hashes, and that the directory
has permissions compatible with NT4 domains. The domain can be
Native mode, as long as those compatibility permissions are set.
