Hi,

if You have used Squid with transparent redirection and cancelled
redirecting - it means that your users don't use Squid at all now.
 The lack of performance could be caused by many things. Check
out how Squid deals with DNS/reverse DNS. Do not setup squid for
users until you have proper ACLs. If you have ACLs set up
properly - you could take a look at the other parameters, which
do have influence on performance - disk buffers, logging etc. I
