Prety old version, but that is not your Problem. Your Problem is, that you
didn't understand what squid is. It is a caching http-Proxy.

Just read on http://www.squid-cache.org/ what squid is and for what you can
use it. If you want a generic proxy try socks 5:

http://www.socks.permeo.com/
http://www.inet.no/dante/

But, please read about it first!
