Hello,
This is my first post to the group. I'm a third-year computer science
student from Macquarie University, Australia. I have been delegated the task
of setting up a squid cache for my industry project group, as a test bed for
writing http cache monitoring software for my industry sponsor.
I've got a Linux box running Red 9.0 Professional, with the Squid
software I download from www.squid-cache.org. I got a static IP for the
Linux box, so the other computers on my sponsors network can configure their
browsers to go through the squid linux box to check for cached http objects.
I haven't been able to do anything with Squid yet though, since my
sponsors network, as with most large companies it seems and defence, has a
restriction that all http traffic can only leave my sponsors network and go
into the web, via a single gateway.
I can't think of a solution to this problem as yet. My network
administrator also did not have a clue.
Cheers,
Phillip Lucs
