Can't make it work with gaim either. When I insert the proxy ip, port,
username and password and try to connect it just says "unable to
connect" but this is really quickly, it never gets to the proxy itself.

Try clearing the IE browser cache. Sometimes it "remembers" that it did
not need any username/password. If you don't succeed at all try a real
client like Gaim (yes, it is also running on Windows). All this
IE/internet stuff on Windows is a complete mess. I know that because I
have to support it.

By the way... I prefer a non-outlook-quoting style. ;)
