Would you try to use a "-D" option so that nmbd starts as a daemon
Try it
-- rc..local --
/usr/local/samba/bin/smbd -D
/usr/local/samba/bin/nmbd -D
/usr/local/samba/bin/winbindd
/usr/local/squid/sbin/squid
