thanks so far.
Yes, the web server is fine and can be requested directly (without squid).
And even better. While running the performance client against the web server
(with squid withinbetween) i can run the same client against the web
server directly.
The client going over squid does not get responses, but the client
running directly against
the web server at the same time is ok and gets good quality responses.
It certainly is a configuration problem
of squid.
The amount of children from the web server is almost constant. And there
are no logs from the web server
identifying any problem at all.
Hmm, I think I have to figure it out myself. I just thought somebody
already did some performance tests
and knows how to tune the little fish properly.
