I also get the downloading the '/' occasionaly
hitting refresh fixes it.
cache_dir ufs /var/spool/squid 3500 16 256
2.2.19 debian
Squid Cache: Version 2.4.STABLE7
IE6 (not sp1) on windows XP (sp0)

Dear Henrik,
I'm using UFS.
Below-mentioned is my cache_dir config
cache_dir ufs /var/spool/squid 1000 16 256
Please advise if there is anything wrong with it.
Best Regards;

show nothing but garbage. Again, a quick reload may solve the problem
but sometimes it won't work

Also, I've noticed this problem 1 1/2 year ago when I was using a squid
2.2 proxy in school. No corruption of stuff, but just downloading the
file / from xyzsite[1].
