I have the same error on a Solaris 8 x86 using aufs with
2.5.STABLE1-20021007 with 4096 configured FDs used from 19 clients.
But looking on cachemgr stats, I have found a strange thing:

Please, look at the very high ordinal number of used FD. It seems that FD
are not reused, why ?
On the Windows native port, the aufs based awin32 fs module don't exhibit
this behaviour.
