So I should stop the squid and dansguardian processes.
Then copy all squid.conf file for backup purposes.
Run the install.
Reconfigure the new squid.conf file for the same rules I had in the old
version. Correct?

There is ,as far as I know, not much info concerning
upgrading mainly because it is not that a big deal.
I advise to read the 2.5S1 release notes.
Incorporate your 2.4 conf specifics , in a maiden 2.5 conf file.
Do not simply use your 2.4 conf file.
