alpha >= a19 out of the box.

Get the samba 2.2.6 going. The compile time will probably be the longest
part of the process.
I can honestly say that using MS Proxy just for http is probably a mistake
now, and I am NOT anti-MS. I regularly recommend MS solutions where
they fit.
