 Hotmail works for me without problems
 (2.4S7, in combination with redhat 6.2).

 This reminds me , which Linux version are you using ?

 Did you read the Linux faq section, also the concerning about
 tcp ecn ?

 Are you using transparant proxy setup ?
 If so,make sure adequate solutions are in place for ssl
 connectivity.
