The pam stuff is irrelevant to squid.
Joining the domain is a one liner, but it is different between 2.2.x and
3.0x versions.
Your looking at non-squid relevant portions of the winbindd example setup.
To join a domain in 2.2.x:
smbpasswd -j DOMAIN -r PDC -U Administrator
