IE and all other known WWW browsers can use HTTP proxies like Squid to
fetch (and in some cases even upload) FTP content. When a browser is
configured to use a proxy for the FTP protocol HTTP is used between
the browser and the proxy as transport protocol. The proxy then
translates the HTTP request to the requested protocol, and translates
any responses back into HTTP and HTML where applicable.
