[squid-users] LDAP authentication with courier-imap

Hi all,

I'm not able to authenticate a courier-imap account against my openldap
server.

When I run Openldap in debug mode, courier-imap is not even contacting
the ldap server.
The courier-imap FAQ has a note "I have OpenLDAP, or OpenSSL, or MySQL
installed, but Courier-IMAP does not see it " and I guess this is the
problem.
So the question is, how can I check if the RPMs have compiled without
LDAP since I do have the openldap "devel" RPM loaded? Alternatively, is
there some way of looking at debug output from courier-imap?
Anything else to check?

Notes:
System is RedHat 7.3 - brand new setup.
Courier -imap installed from an RPM built myself using a local account
as per the FAQ, i.e. create RPM structure in local account and then rpm
-ta courier-imap-xxx.tar.gz with local user
The ldap server has read access and is verifiably working (e.g. squid
authenticates against it)
