reiserfs is currently slightly faster than the other Linux
filesystems for Squid according to Joe's benchmarking efforts.
The recommended cache_dir configuration is to have one cache_dir per
drive spindle. Squid does not benefit from having more than one
cache_dir per drive or striping, and concatenating/striping drives
only makes you more vulnerable in case of a drive failure.
Note: beware of RAID5. Using RAID5 will completely kill your cache
performance. A Squid workload is about as close as you can get to a
real-life worst case for RAID5..
