Sorry if I've submitted this question or if this question has been
asked time and time again.
I'm running an web server using apache as the main server but
squid as the proxy. We have half the network on public addresses
and half on private addresses. There is no problem with streaming
of any kind through the public addresses but streaming does not
work on the private addresses. I don't know if this has be dealt with
in a
later version of squid as I'm running squid 2.3stable4. I don't just
mean
streaming through real player although I do need to get that
working as
well. I've seen some of the squid FAQ's about this and it mentions
installing real server and configuring this that and the next thing. I'm
running the webserver on Solaris and am not quite sure how to
proceed.
When it comes down it I guess I'm asking what are the issues with
a proxy allowing streaming can squid handle it, do I need to
upgrade, if squid can't handle it is there a product free or otherwise
available that will?
When I mean streaming in general I'll give an example:
We had some students that were doing a coursework in which they
had to build a web browser using java. This browser had to be able
to download/play media clips. This only worked in public labs.
Thanks in advance
