AW: [squid-users] Empty cache

I had the same problem.
 
Reason: I had created the swap directory with user root. Squid runs as user
"squid" which had no rights to write to cache_dir.
 
Solutions:
 
1. Change protections:
       logon as user root
       cd <cache_dir>
       chmod -R 777 *
 
2. Better: Create the cache directory a user squid

My cache directory is empty right from creation and cache.log reads as
follows;
Can anybody tell me why squid is not caching any sites?
