Yes.
Has always been possible. In Squid-2.5 it is sligthly more visible
how to do so. (there is a configure option, previously was a hidden
define in the sources).
Not enabled by default as it then would be abused by people running
transparent proxies and not understanding why they cannot use
authentication in a transparent proxy.
