In what respect? I don't ask to be annoying, but out of curiosity. How
should a closed list attempt to restict posters to subscribers within
the rfc 822 constraints.

It would really depend if the gateway is bidirectional. Squid-dev is
PUBLICLY visible, but closed for posting. If your gateway only allows
*You* to post though to squid-dev, I don't see an issue.
