[squid-users] monitor for port 3138 and 3130

Hi,

I need to set up a monitor to tell me whether the port on
my proxy service is alive or non-responsive. If I were
to check port 80 of a web server, for example, I might connect
to the port and send the string

GET /

and if I received a reply, then all is well. If not, or if the
reply was invalid, then do something else.

If I were to connect to port 3128, what string could I send to
test whether I received the correct response?

Also, if I were to connect to port 3130 (ICP port), what string
could I send to test whether I received the correct response?

Thanks,

deb
