[squid-users] tuning squid on AIX

Hi,

I use squid 2.4.STABLE1 on AIX 4.3.3 for a few weeks now, and I am
still looking for the compile options and squid settings to get the
best performance out of the box (R40, 4 CPU ppc604 (604e?) 133MHZ,
1GB - rather old machine) _and_ a squid running stable.
I used IBM VAC 4.4.0.0 and gcc 2.95.3, different compiler options,
diskd and aufs, now I use a gcc-compiled squid with diskd. Runs fine,
but perhaps it could run better?

Some extract from Cache Utilisation:
client_http.requests = 81.195587/sec
client_http.hits = 0.087754/sec
client_http.errors = 0.000000/sec
client_http.kbytes_in = 33.219922/sec
client_http.kbytes_out = 397.547012/sec

Disk I/O is not the bottleneck (SSA disks).
And there are Requests in the Queue on the Load Balancer...

How did you set up your squid on AIX?
The FAQ and documentation doesn't tell much about squid on AIX.

regards
Rainer
