Greetings,
trying to set up diskd on FreeBSD 4.3 I got confused enough to ask you
people.
FAQ (http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/FAQ/FAQ-22.html#ss22.6) mentions message
segments but says nothing about 'msgssz' and instead talks about tweaking
'msgmax'. Meantime FreeBSD (from around end of June) reports this on 'ipcs
-Q':
msgmax: 16384 (max characters in a message)
msgmni: 40 (# of message queues)
msgmnb: 2048 (max characters in a message queue)
msgtql: 40 (max # of messages in system)
msgssz: 8 (size of a message segment)
msgseg: 2048 (# of message segments in system)
>From which follows 'msgmax' in the FAQ is actually 'msgssz' in FreeBSD
and the questions:
1. Is the last conclusion always right (as applied to the FAQ)?
2. Should it be reported to Duane?
3. (unrelated) How come 'msgmax' is greater than 'msgmnb'? As I read e.g. in
Solaris and IRIX it is the opposite?
Thank you.
