[squid-users] Too bad squid speed

Hello List!:
 
 I have to installed Squid 2.3 Stable4 in a Duron 750 MHZ with 256 of
 Memory and 25 GB Hard Disk in Linux 7.1
 
 When i browsing trought the Squid, is too loww. When disable the Squid
 and Browse directy, is faster.
 
 I have only a disk (ide) my cache dir /var/log/squid 20000 256 256 , is
 this correct ??
 
 My Cache_mem is 70
 
i dont use parent proxy.

 Can you help me to UP my Squid and work faster.
