[squid-users] buffer management in Squid

Can anybody explain me about buffer management for connection handling in Squid?
I mean how much memory is allocated for sockets, etc. etc,
I want to improve the buffer size If needed in Squid. Or what are the parms i should increase in Linux OS kernel 2.2.19 or 2.4.5?

Probably i should ask this in squid-dev list.
