[squid-users] configure stops at creating/autoconf.h

I downloaded the latest tar file (squid-head-200107242301), when I configure
this it stops at ... creating/autoconf.h
I tried already other squid packages, the same result however. Does anyone
have an idea?
I use Redhat v7.1 - kernel 2.4.6

I used the following parameters :
./configure --prefix=/opt/squid --with-aio-threads=16 '--enable-storeio=aufs
ufs' --enable-delay-pools --disable-wccp --enable-snmp
--disable-ident-lookups --enable-underscores '--enable-auth=basic ntlm'
'--enable-basic-auth-helpers=smb msnt' --enable-ntlm-auth-helpers=ntlmssp

creating ./src/auth/ntlm/helpers/no_check/Makefile
creating ./contrib/Makefile
creating ./icons/Makefile
creating ./errors/Makefile
creating include/autoconf.h
