A few directions to look at:

The 192.168.x.x is private range. Do you have a route there? If so work
with nslookup (change servers with the server command) and see if it
replies. Also if the server works for local lookups how does it work for
external (because how can a DNS server with a private range IP do a query
on the public Internet)
