The version is printed in squid.conf when it starts, at the bottom of
all error pages and a number of other places, or you can use squid -v to
ask it manually.
Squid-1.2 was never released (became 2.0)
Squid-1.X is no longer maintained or supported (last 1.X release is a
couple of years old...). Current Squid release is 2.4.STABLE1.
